Show Dates – Wednesday 14th – Sunday 25th May 2025 (12 performances)

Rehearsal Days - Tuesdays and Thursdays (with some Wednesdays) from the W/C 27th January 2025. As always cast will only be called to rehearsals/times they will be needed at. Please check your availability to commit to the rehearsals before auditioning. *Compulsory attendance is required for all rehearsals from 29th April 2025*

Minimum Age For Audition - 12 years old

Show Fees - Over 18s - £20.00 + LPS Gold Membership required (can be purchased after auditions). Under 18s  - £10.00

Louth Playgoers are so excited to be bringing Roald Dahl’s classic tale of chocolate and wonderment to the Louth Riverhead Theatre stage in May 2025. It truly is a magical show with a beautiful message at its heart. The creative team can’t wait to get going!

Willy Wonka - Male - Playing Age 21+

The sly, charming star of the show. Lithe, eccentric. His larger than life persona can go from charming and comical, to magically mysterious and dark.

Grandpa Joe - Male - Playing Age 40+

Impish. He is Charlie's imaginative, fun, kind and loving grandfather. After many years being confined to a bed, his childish energy returns when Charlie finds the Golden Ticket.

Mrs Bucket - Female - Playing Age 21 - 40 (will also be an Oompa Loompa in Act 2)

Charlie's warm and kind-hearted mother. Worrier. Generous and loving.

Mrs Gloop - Female - Playing Age 30+

Augustus's German, moronic, Wagnerian mother. Mirthlessly smiles as though it were affixed to the front of her face. **Must be able to demonstrate a German accent**

Mr Salt - Male - Playing Age 30+

Veruca's goofy, eccentric, distracted, hilarious father. Finds it impossible to say no, giving in to every ridiculous demand his daughter makes. **Must be able to demonstrate a Russian accent**

Mr or Mrs Beauregard - Male or Female - Playing Age 30+

Violet's ineffectual father/mother. Ignores his/her back-talking, insult-hurling daughter. **Must be able to demonstrate an American accent**

Mrs Teevee - Female - Playing Age 30+

She needs amphetamines to get through the day and deal with her outrageous son. Tense, extreme, and hilarious. **Must be able to demonstrate an American accent**

Grandpa George/Grandma Josephine/Grandma Georgina - Male/Female/Female - Playing Age 40+ (will also be Oompa Loompa's in Act 2)

Stereotypical over-the-top reporters who interview each golden ticket winner as they win

Local busy body. Knows everyone's business.

- Whilst it is absolutely preferable that audtionees attend the audition and perform live on the day in person, the creative team understand that some may have prior holiday or other activity commitments. Under these circumstances we will therefore accept video auditions to be sent. These must be received no later than Sunday 12th January 2025 at 5.00pm. Any video auditions received after this time will not be considered for casting. The videos can be sent to director Jamie Harris on the email listed at the bottom of this page. 

- All auditionees, whether successful or not, will be contacted by phone by either Jamie Harris or Gary Starkie no later than Friday 24th January 2025.

- Whilst we have set the minimum age to audition at 12 years we will only be accepting a maximum of 10 secondary school aged children into the chorus.
