As an artist living in the historic market town of Louth, Lainy draws inspiration from the local architecture and the vibrant character of her surroundings. Her work captures the essence of familiar streetscapes through a modern lens, using bold colours and geometric abstraction to reimagine the familiar.
With her WITH LOVE FROM LOUTH series, she seeks to distill the town’s architectural charm into contemporary compositions that evoke both nostalgia and a fresh perspective. She layers shapes and shades to convey the interplay of the ever-changing Lincolnshire light and shadow on the buildings, emphasising the unique forms that define Louth’s street scenes. She likes to prompt viewers to see their surroundings in a new way, to notice the structure, the rhythm and the colour in the spaces they inhabit.
